U Of Idaho Seeks Grid Rules Change

The University of Idaho’s request to have its football games count toward the six-win bowl requirement has been referred to the NCAA Council, Big West assistant commissioner Dennis Bickmeier said.

The Council’s next meeting is in April. The NCAA’s administrative committee on Wednesday made the referral, calling the issue “not non-controversial.”

The Vandals are classified I-AA, although they are operating under I-A rules. Idaho is having difficulty scheduling because opponents don’t get credit under the six-win requirement when they face the I-AA squad.

Idaho is hoping for a favorable interpretation from the NCAA, citing rules inconsistencies.
