Man Killed After Walking Into Train

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 24-year-old man was killed early Saturday after he walked into a moving train near Pacific and Washington avenues.

The train was headed east and traveling 21 miles per hour at about 2 a.m., Spokane police said. At that time, the train’s conductor and engineer said they saw two men sitting next to the tracks.

Witnesses said one man stood up when the train approached, but they lost sight of him. The train stopped after the conductor and engineer heard it hit the man.

Police gave no further details about the victim.

The man who was with him told police they had been walking along the tracks after leaving a tavern.
