Year’s First Baby Born To Saldivar Family

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Saldivar family rang in the new year welcoming Spokane’s first baby of 1997: Crystal Marie.

The little girl, born at 12:54 a.m. at Sacred Heart Medical Center, weighed 7 pounds, four ounces and was 20 inches long.

Vicky and David Saldivar are the parents. Both mother and baby are doing fine, said a hospital spokeswoman.

“At first it was rough,” said Vicky Saldivar. “Now it’s a lot better.” Saldivar said she had her labor induced because she was overdue.

“We’re both very happy this is over,” she said. “The baby is smiling and very tired and sleepy. Just like mom.”
