Kelowna Trips Chiefs, Ends Winless Streak
Kelowna ended a nine-game winless streak and snapped Spokane’s two-game road win streak with a 4-3 victory Friday.
The loss completed Brett Cox’s stint as the Chiefs’ interim coach. Cox finished with a 5-3 record. Head coach Mike Babcock returns tonight at the Arena when the Chiefs play host to Kelowna.
Jordan Walker and Jason Deleurme scored two goals apiece for the Rockets. Spokane’s Ty Jones opened the scoring in the first period and scored again in the second to tie the game at 2-2. Greg Leeb scored for the Chiefs late in the third after they pulled their goaltender.
Rockets goaltender Kim Dillabaugh made 38 saves in his first game back since being benched Dec. 27 following an 11-2 loss in Seattle.
