Superintendent Search Seeks Input

From Staff And Wire Reports

Coeur d’Alene School District residents can comment on the search for a new district superintendent at a Thursday forum.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Lakes Middle School library.

The audience will be asked to identify key strengths of the district and the three main challenges it faces. They’ll be invited to name the professional qualifications and personal qualities desired in a school superintendent.

The school board has hired the consulting firm of Coble and Marshall to seek a replacement for Superintendent Doug Cresswell. He will retire July 1. The board hopes to hire a new superintendent by April 24.

Howard Coble and his associate, John Fottingham, will be in Coeur d’Alene two days this week to meet with district staff members, parent-teacher organization leaders, Chamber of Commerce members and others to discuss the search process and criteria for the position.

They will then recruit candidates, screen and do background checks on applicants, and schedule finalists for interviews with the school board. Representatives of the staff and community will be invited to observe the interviews and evaluate finalists.
