EV Surprises Medical Lake

Area boys basketball

Winless team against ranked team equals a mismatch.

That proved to be the case Tuesday, although not the way some might have expected.

James Spotted Horse scored 21 and Jon Anderson made 7 of 7 free throws to guide a 21-for-24 team effort as East Valley (1-9) stopped Class A sixth-ranked Medical Lake 82-65 in a non-leaguer at EV.

Spotted Horse, Troy Hansen and Mitch Johnson had seven rebounds apiece for the Knights, who hadn’t won since their final game of 1995-96, including an earlier loss this year to ML. Andre Jackson scored six in the first quarter to give the Cardinals (11-2) a healthy lead.
