Colville Reins In Wv, Knots Boys’ Race

Colville tightened the Frontier League boys basketball race by trouncing host West Valley 72-46 Friday night, handing the Eagles their first league loss of the season.

Colville, WV, Cheney and Clarkston all tied for first at 3-1.

Brandon True paced the Indians with 17 points. Jimmy Day added 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

WV, which saw a six-game winning streak end, was led by the 17 points and 11 rebounds of Vinnie Pecht.

The top-ranked Blackhawks (12-0, 4-0) rallied from a 31-28 halftime deficit to beat the host Greyhounds (3-10, 1-4).

Anna Getz and Ginger Ewing each had 17 points to lead Cheney.

Leah Wilde’s 17 points topped Pullman. She had 11 in the second quarter.

The Eagles (9-2, 4-0) dominated the first and fourth quarters en route to their ninth straight win with a victory over the visiting Indians (3-9, 0-4).

Gabby McClintock had nine rebounds as WV controlled the boards 38-21.

Rayna Spies and Karey Deardorff each scored 10 for Colville.
