Tacoma Nets Pro Hockey

The West Coast Hockey League and the Tacoma Dome have reached an agreement to bring an expansion team to Tacoma for the 1997-98 season.

The five-year pact will bring professional hockey to Tacoma for the first time in more than 40 years.

The WCHL, in its second year of operation, has teams in San Diego, Fresno and Bakersfield, Calif.; Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska; and Reno, Nev. Other expansion teams taking the ice next season are in Boise and Tucson, Ariz.
