Martha Fines Spokane

No service will be held for Martha M. Fines, 82. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Fines, who was born in Starbuck, Wash., died last Monday.

She graduated from North Central High School.

She moved to California for about 12 years and returned to Spokane 50 years ago.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Fines.

Mrs. Fines is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Davis of San Juan Bautista, Calif.; a sister Rosella Costello of Opportunity; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

Cynthia Peoples Spokane

Service for Cynthia L. Peoples, 37, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Spokane Valley Assembly of God Church. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Peoples, who was born in California, died Tuesday.

She had lived in Spokane for 11 years and was a member of Valley Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by her husband, Donald, and a daughter, Deanna, both at home.

Clarence Westbrook Pullman

Service for Clarence William Westbrook, a retired Pullman fire chief, will be at 1 p.m. today at Concordia Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Pullman City Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Westbrook, 79, died Thursday.

He was born in Montrose, Mo., and graduated from high school in California.

He moved to Pullman in 1953 and worked as a school custodian and from 1954 to 1960 he was a patrolman for the Pullman Police Department.

He married Ruth Gleason in 1960 in Pullman.

Mr. Westbrook became Pullman’s fire chief in 1963 and retired in 1973 due to health reasons.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Clarence Westbrook of Phoenix, Ariz., and John Westbrook of Fresno, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Helen Gleason Thompson of Pullman; three grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Elva O’Leary Spokane

No service will be held for Elva M. O’Leary, at her request. Private burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. O’Leary, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Friday.

She had worked as a book binder for a publishing company in Spokane.

Survivors include a son, John O’Leary of Spokane; and two grandchildren.
