It Is Time To Nominate Your Neighbor For The Annual Contest

Sam Francis Staff writer

Some of the best folks go unnoticed.

She’s the neighbor who always volunteers to fix your car. Or the couple who puts up your Christmas lights. Or the young man who mows his lawn - and then yours - every weekend.

Now you can put them in the spotlight.

The eighth annual Good Neighbor contest is under way.

We’re asking for nominations - letters of up to 250 words - that tell us about those people who have made a real difference in your neighborhood.

The most neighborly winners receive a beautiful plaque, plus recognition in the South Voice. What’s more, we’ll throw a catered outdoor party for the entire block.

When writing your letter of nomination, remember to include specific instances demonstrating your neighbor’s continued commitment to helping folks in your neighborhood. Tell us about those magical moments when your neighbor made a difference. Give us short, concise examples of your neighbor’s everyday good deeds.

Talk to other people in your neighborhood. Ask them who would make a good nominee. It could become a community effort.

All letters must be received by July 14. Mail your letters to: Good Neighbor contest, P.O. Box 2160, Spokane, WA 99210-1615. Winners will be announced on July 31.
