Symposium To Look At Downtown’s Future

From Staff Reports

What’s the right path to downtown revitalization?

Experts in a variety of fields will try to find answers to this question during a public affairs symposium Friday, sponsored by Eastern Washington University.

Panelists include Walter Kulash, a senior traffic engineer with an Orlando, Fla., community-planning firm, who will talk about ways to design traffic patterns to best complement other aspects of downtown life.

Charles Royer, former three-term mayor of Seattle, is a lecturer at the University of Washington Graduate School of Public Affairs who has long been involved in urban quality of life issues. Donovan Rypkema, is an industry leader in the economics of preserving historic structures and is the founder of the Real Estate Services Group in Washington, D.C.

The symposium, to be held at The Met, 929 W. Sprague, lasts from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. It is open to the public.
