Canoeists Find Body In Green River

Associated Press

A body was found Wednesday by three canoeists on the Green River in south King County, police spokeswoman Joanne Elledge said.

Family members of Tony Ackerson, who was last seen up-river from the site nearly three months ago, said they were confident it was his body.

“We just want to find him and take him home. … We knew we’d find him,” his mother, Arlene George, told KIRO-TV.

The 17-year-old Kentwood High School student was last seen April 21 at Flaming Geyser Park, where he apparently jumped into the water, Elledge said.

She said the canoeists, passing by a small island, saw what appeared to be a human foot under some rocks.
