Clinton Promises Poles Military Security
In a cobblestone square filled with cheering Poles, President Clinton brought a promise of Western military security to a nation tormented by tyranny throughout history. “Never again will your fate be decided by others,” Clinton pledged Thursday.
A banner saying “Thank you, Bill” hung in Castle Square in appreciation of Clinton’s drive to bring Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic into NATO by 1999.
“We have been waiting for this moment for a long time, and now it has finally come,” President Alexander Kwasniewski said.
