Disney Releasing ‘Fun And Fancy Free’ On Video

The 1947 Walt Disney animated film “Fun and Fancy Free,” the only full-length movie to star all four of Disney’s most famous animated characters Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Jiminy Cricket and Goofy comes out on video for the first time Tuesday.

This musical was the last animated feature for which Disney himself recorded the voice of Mickey Mouse.

The 73-minute film, celebrating its golden anniversary, lists for $26.99 and includes an appearance by Edgar Bergen and a vocal performance by Dinah Shore, a bonus 14-minute look at Disney voicing Mickey Mouse plus “Walt Disney: The Man and the Mouse,” a commemorative booklet.

This week Disney also releases its high-tech, animated, crime-fighting hockey players in “Mighty Ducks the Movie: The First Face-off” ($14.99, 66 mins.).

Another family film is the heartwarming “Shiloh,” about a boy (Blake Herson), a mistreated dog and a shopkeeper (Rod Steiger) who teaches the lad to have the courage to be loyal and protective of what he loves ($19.98, 93 mins).

Barney has three titles just out for summer fun for the young ones: “Barney’s Musical Scrapbook” ($14.95, 52 mins.), “Barney’s Big Surprise” ($9.98, 43 mins.) and “Barney’s Camp WannaRunnaRound” ($14.95, 50 mins.).

Paramount Home Video is offering 10 titles for the summer, starting with “A Rugrat Vacation” ($12.95, 55 mins.); two new-to-video “Hey Arnold!” reels, “Urban Adventures” and “The Helga Stories,” ($12.95, 59 mins. each); two from “Rocko’s Modern Life,” “With Friends Like These” and “Machine Madness” ($9.95, 58 mins. each); and a pair of “AAAHH!!! Real Monsters,” “Meet the Monsters” and “Monsters Night Out” ($9.95, 57 mins. each). Also this week, Paramount added three titles to its Family Favorites line, “Leapin’ Leprechauns,” “Pet Shop” and “Magic in the Mirror” ($14.95 and about 90 minutes apiece).

PolyGram Video is also adding the animal adventures of “Kratts’ Creatures” to its library. The first three titles, due out Tuesday, are “Maximum Cheetah Velocity,” “The Great Bear Show” and “African Creature Quest” ($12.95, 30 mins. each). PolyGram’s “Bananas in Pajamas” added “Treasure Hunt” and “Pajama Party” ($12.95, 25 mins. each.)

Video Escape’s “My Underwater Journey” ($19.95, 30 mins.) was filmed at Reef City in Kona, Hawaii, and shows all the special fish that live there (1-800-724-0566).
