So, Do What Frank Says, Not Who He Does

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

Kathie Lee Gifford has nothing but good things to say about wayward hubby Frank in the new Good Housekeeping - not too surprising, since the interview was done before he was photographed fooling around.

In the article, subtitled “an intimate look at the damage of adultery,” Kathie Lee talks about the split of Gifford’s daughter, Victoria, from Michael Kennedy after it came out that he was having sex with their baby sitter.

“Nothing brings out the best in Frank like a crisis,” Kathie Lee says, adding that he wasn’t angry with his son-in-law: “He’s sad … He did say to Michael, ‘Just remember that you have children together.”’

The magazine said it went back to Kathie Lee later for comment about her and Frank’s own adultery, but she declined.

Loose talk

Robin Williams, on his style (in the Cable Guide): “The stuff explodes out of me … It’s a bit like Tourette’s. There’s this theory that when you’re creative there’s an endorphin release; the body reinforcing that creativity is a good thing. That’s why Einstein looked so whack.”

Actually, we find his films rather icy

Ingmar Bergman turns 79 today.

Oh, so now she’s trying to muzzle Mazzucchelli

Ivana Trump has filed a $15 million lawsuit against estranged husband Riccardo Mazzucchelli for blabbing to the National Enquirer about their marital problems - a violation of their prenuptial agreement. As for ever getting back together with Donald Trump, recently split himself from Marla Maples, Ivana’s spokeswoman says: “Absolutely not.”

She thought everything was worth $40 million

Yes, that was 22-year-old Autumn Jackson - currently on trial for allegedly trying to extort $40 million from entertainer Bill Cosby by threatening to reveal to the world that she is his love child - on a rerun of the game show “The Price Is Right” the other day. Jackson got to come on down, but didn’t make it through the first round.

Unless you’re the kid’s papa, don’t preach

Following public hand-wringing by New York City officials, Madonna has installed window guards in her fifth-floor apartment to protect her 9-month-old daughter, Lourdes. Said a spokeswoman for The Maternal Girl: “I resent her being portrayed as an irresponsible mother.”

He’s already the voice of O.J.’s conscience

O.J. Simpson nemesis Fred Goldman will receive a week-long tryout as a radio talk show host as part of a contest at a San Antonio station. Said a spokesman: “We’ll see if Fred likes the stage and if the stage likes him.”

It’d be like the pothead calling the kettle black

Finally, in the “Truth is Stranger than Fiction” department, substance-abusing “gonzo” journalist Hunter S. Thompson was called last week for jury duty in the Colorado courtroom where John Denver is on trial for drunk driving. Thompson was excused because of a medical condition that prevents him from sitting for long stretches.
