Woman Dies When Horse Falls

Associated Press

A 34-year-old Orting woman was killed when her horse fell on her.

Carol Martin was riding in a pasture near her home Sunday when her horse reared, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Curt Benson said. She fell to the ground and the horse landed on top of her.

The accident happened in front of her three children, all under the age of 7. A 6-year-old daughter called for help, but aid crews could not revive the woman.
