Beheader Says He Also Bludgeoned Girl

By Compiled From Wire Services

A teenager who confessed to beheading a younger boy says he also beat a 10-year-old girl to death with a steel pipe, police said Tuesday.

In a case that has shocked the country because of the ages of the alleged killer and victims, the Japanese junior high school student also acknowledged attacking three other girls, officers in the western city of Kobe said.

The student, who has not been identified because he is a minor, already was under arrest in the murder of 11-year-old Jun Hase, whose severed head was found in a schoolyard in May.

Authorities Tuesday charged him with a second count of murder, said Seishi Yamashita, a police investigator in Kobe.

Ayaka Yamashita, 10, was bludgeoned to death March 16. Less than an hour later, a 9-year-old girl was stabbed and nearly bled to death, investigators say.
