Rebecca Barce Receives Good Conduct Medal

Marine Cpl. Rebecca Barce, has received the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal for maintaining a satisfactory level of performance and an unblemished conduct record for a three-year period.

She is the daughter of James and Mary Barce of Deer Park.

Dorothy Young Terrell has been named Retired Educator of the Year by the Spokane Area Retired Educators Association.

She was cited for her work with drug abuse, child abuse and suicide prevention in public schools, teaching illiterate adults how to read and many other projects.

Army National Guard 2nd Lt. Michael Campbell, son of Martha Van Order of Spokane, has graduated from the engineer officer basic course in Waynesville, Mo. He is a 1988 graduate of Cheney High School.

Aaron Mosher, a 1992 graduate of Ferris High School, won an Outstanding Senior Award from The University of Idaho, based on his scholarship and activities.

Mosher graduated with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. He was one of 24 graduating seniors in a class of about 2,400 to be so honored.

Mosher has accepted a year’s position with a pulp wood company in Sweden.

The Ferris High School Chapter of Future Farmers of America earned the Gold President’s Award for four student-produced leadership projects.

The Ferris High School Chamber Choir represented Spokane in the 1997 Austrian Invitational International Music Festival last month.

The choir was selected on recommendations from state music officials, superior performance ratings and past competition results.

Spokane-area students who graduated this spring from Carroll College in Helena, Mont., are: John Van Gemert, biology; David Toillion, chemistry; Matthew Edminster, English; Donna Benjamin, English and English writing; Meghan Flisakowski, English writing; Salina Davis, history and psychology; Kimberly House, nursing; Susan Goffinet, psychology; Stephanie Hudson, sociology; and Rebecca Michelotti of Pullman, nursing.
