Courier Gains In Rankings

Former world No. 1 Jim Courier of the U.S. moved up seven places to No. 22 in the ATP men’s world tennis rankings after winning the Infiniti Open in Los Angeles.

Wimbledon champion Pete Sampras maintains his lead at the top of the rankings with 5,388 points, followed by Michael Chang and Goran Ivanisevic.

Peter Graf, father of tennis star Steffi Graf, reported to a prison hospital in Stuttgart, Germany, to receive treatment for his alcoholism and begin serving a sentence for tax evasion.
