Dollar Shows Strength

The dollar hit a nearly eight-year high against the mark, a four-year high against the Swiss franc and the strongest levels vs. the yen and pound in three months Monday, powered by a growing belief that Europe’s single currency will be weak.

The dollar also gained on expectations that U.S. data to be released this week would show more economic health. A selloff in the pound on concern about its stamina contributed further to the dollar’s strength.
