Ex-Sawmill Site Part Of Rezoning

From Staff And Wire Reports

There won’t be any more sawing, grinding or other industrial activity at the former Potlatch sawmill site.

If approved by the Post Falls City Council, that property will be rezoned to “community commercial services.” The proposal is part of a larger rezoning of land that’s bounded by Second and Fourth avenues on the north and south, and Idaho Street and the Spokane River on the east and west.

The area is a portion of the original Post Falls townsite. It includes some houses and businesses, which would be allowed under the new zoning designation, city planner Jerry Basler said Monday.

If approved by the City Council, the adjacent Falls Park also would be rezoned from “public reserve” to “open space.”

The proposal has been OK’d by the city’s planning commission. A public hearing before the City Council will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 at City Hall.
