Associated Press

Pete Harnisch, making his sixth appearance in a 30-day rehabilitation assignment from the New York Mets, struck out eight in six innings and singled in a run to lead Norfolk to a 7-1 victory over Richmond in the International League on Wednesday night.

Harnisch (1-1) allowed three hits, one a triple by Marty Malloy in the fifth that drove in Richmond’s only run.

The Tides scored twice in the second on a sacrifice fly by Phil Geisler and a single by Harnisch.

Roberto Petagine and Tate Seefried hit two-run homers in the fourth inning. Geisler scored the Tides’ seventh run on a throwing error by Richmond catcher Fausto Tejero in the fourth inning.

Richmond starter Larry Luebbers (3-12) was pounded for seven runs on nine hits in five innings.
