Rookie Hurls Angels Past Minnesota

Rookie Jason Dickson scattered six hits in eight innings and Luis Alicea broke a scoreless tie with a seventh-inning single as the Anaheim Angels beat the Minnesota Twins 3-0 Thursday night in Minneapolis.

Dickson (7-2) limited the Twins to six singles as he outdueled Bob Tewksbury, who allowed nine hits after starting off with 4-2/3 perfect innings.

Troy Percival followed Dickson and finished for his fourth save.

Indians 5, White Sox 4 (11)

Cleveland

Casey Candaele lined a game-winning single off Carlos Castillo in the bottom of the 11th as Cleveland avoided a three-game sweep with a victory over Chicago.

Athletics 4, Blue Jays 3

Toronto

Jose Canseco hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning as Oakland handed Toronto its fourth straight loss.

Red Sox 2, Brewers 1

Milwaukee

Boston profited from three questionable calls, including a disputed home run by Mo Vaughn, to beat Milwaukee and end a five-game losing streak.

Tim Wakefield (2-4) tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts.

Rangers 6, Royals 3 (11)

Kansas City, Mo.

Dean Palmer singled home the go-ahead run in the 11th inning and led Texas over Kansas City.

Kevin Appier failed in a sixth attempt to win his 100th game for the Royals.
