There’s Plenty Of Time For Another Liz Marriage

On the eve of her recent brain surgery, Elizabeth Taylor penned the following note: “If the knife slips while I’m on that operating table tomorrow and I never wake up in this world again, I’ll die knowing I’ve had an extraordinary life.”

Well, the knife didn’t slip, Taylor survived the removal of a benign brain tumor and she’s mighty happy at the way things have turned out - even if she is bald.

“I won’t dye my hair for awhile. I’ll let it grow out white,” she told Life magazine. “In the meantime, I don’t mind being bald.”

“I’ve still got a lot of living left to do,” the 65-year-old Academy Award-winning actress said. “It’s not over. The Fat Lady has not sung.”

Loose talk

Dennis Miller on geographical attitudes (on “‘Dennis Miller Live”): “L.A. is to dishonesty what Wisconsin is to cheese. In Hollywood, lying to someone is just considered good manners.”

The career of ‘Georgie Girl’ continues to shine

Lynn Redgrave turns 54 today.

As if that’s something Spiro Agnew didn’t teach us

After he pulled off a small talking role for the NBC drama “Homicide: Life on the Streets,” a performance that series star Yaphet Kotto labeled “so good that he makes me nervous,” real-life Maryland Gov. Parris Glendening merely shrugged. “Some people think there’s no big difference between acting and being a politician,” Glendening said.

‘Ellen’ is becoming television’s equivalent of a closet

Once Ellen Degeneres officially comes out as a lesbian, which is supposed to occur April 30 on her comedy series “Ellen,” Melissa Etheridge and k.d. lang are on the list to make guest appearances.

Raquel is finally letting it all hang out

Raquel Welch, still shapely despite her 56 years, figures to have fun when she takes over for Julie Andrews in Broadway cast of “Victor/Victoria” on June 1. “I think I’m going to have a lot of fun with this character because I get to play the guy part and the girl part,” Welch told the New York Post. “My figure will be under wraps for some of it, and then we’ll have fun playing with what’s under the wraps.”

Luckily, she’s just old enough to drive it legally

In courting his latest 20-something model/actress-wannabe, “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer is proving characteristically generous. He just gifted girlfriend Camille Donatacci with an $80,000 midnight-blue convertible Jaguar.

Oh, man, things just keep getting dumb and dumber

If you’re in the neighborhood of Seaside, Fla., and decide to drop in on where Jim Carrey is rehearsing “The Truman Show,” here’s how best to irritate him: Address him with any of his trademark lines, such as “Ssssssmokin!” or “Somebody stop me!” Carrey has ordered crew members not to use such catchphrases in his presence.
