Telect Expansion To Add ‘Substantially’ To Staff

Work on Telect’s new 100,000-square foot manufacturing facility is expected to be completed by early August, said Wayne Williams, president of the company.

Spokane contractor Leone and Keeble Inc. began construction of the building in July. The new structure is being built to the south of Telect’s existing Liberty Lake facilities.

Telect, which produces telecommunications products, will move a portion of its Spokane Industrial Park operations to the new facility. Telect will continue operations at the industrial park, Williams said.

While he couldn’t specify the exact number of jobs the expansion will add, Williams did say Telect’s Liberty Lake staff of 140 is expected to grow “substantially.” He also said moving some of Telect’s industrial park operations to Liberty Lake will create room for additional jobs at the company’s facilities at the industrial park.

Williams said a 20,000-square foot link between the new and existing building will also be built. Support staff, human resources and a cafeteria will be located there.

New landscaping and extra parking lots will be added to accommodate the growth, Williams said.

“The main reason we’re doing this is to develop one of the best agile manufacturing plants here and cookie cutter those processes for our manufacturing plants around the world,” said Williams.

Telect has operations in Texas and another in Guadalajara, Mexico is currently under construction. Williams said that facility will open in early April.
