Brosnan’s Film Career Fits Right Under The Volcano

Pierce Brosnan wins even when he loses. At least that’s the way it seems.

The former “Remington Steele” star, who became the latest in the line of actors to play James Bond when he starred in 1995’s “Goldeneye,” has signed on as 007 yet again. He will star in the 18th Bond film, “Tomorrow Never Dies,” which is set to begin shooting in Germany.

But Brosnan is still doing publicity for the recent disaster film, “Dante’s Peak,” and it is for that production that he is most known in his own household.

During a recent press conference, Brosnan said that his 13-year-old son Sean actually preferred “Dante’s Peak” over “Goldeneye.” Said Brosnan, “He gave it two thumbs up.”

Loose talk

“love jones” star Nia Long on her childhood (in People magazine): “My first boyfriend was into crack, and some deal went bad, and he got killed.”

One day we may know him only as Mr. Mira Sorvino

Quentin Tarantino turns 34 today.

Any day now they’ll come up with an actual script

Hoping for an even greater audience for its April 30 “coming out” episode of “Ellen,” the ABC show has added still more names to the cast. In addition to series star Ellen Degeneres, expect to see Dwight Yoakam, Billy Bob Thornton, Gina Gershon and Demi Moore as well as those already announced, Oprah Winfrey, Laura Dern and k.d. lang.

First, though, he’ll have to check with Vito Corleone

The word at first was that Koo Stark’s newborn daughter might be related, if you catch our drift, to Brit-royal Prince Andrew. But, it turns out, the baby girl’s father is American investment banker Warren Walker. Stark, Andrew’s sweetheart before he married Sarah Ferguson, has hopes that the prince will serve as her daughter’s godfather.

Strange tales of royalty come out of Africa

If your idea of a spring break is to, say, visit Steptoe Butte, then you might consider widening your horizon. British Princes William, 14, and Harry, 12, are on a mini-vacation in Kenya. Word is that they may join their father, Prince Charles, for a safari in southern Tanzania.

Maybe Prince Andrew could be his godfather, too

The British magazine OK! reports that Michael Jackson has named his infant son Prince Michael Jackson Jr. “My grandfather and great-grandfather were both named Prince, so we have carried on the tradition, and now we have a third Prince in the family,” Jackson said.

Has anyone told Martha Stewart that the job is open?

Even the strain of looking like Princess Diana is, apparently, too much. “The strain of public life has been too much for both of us,” said professional Diana look-alike Christina Hance. Hance told the London Times that she was retiring. “As Diana suffered, so did I,” she said.
