Mighty Ducks Fire Coach
The Anaheim Mighty Ducks fired head coach Ron Wilson, the only coach in the National Hockey League team’s four-year history.
Wilson led Anaheim to its first playoff appearance this year where it beat the Phoenix Coyotes in seven games before being swept by the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference semifinals.
The Boston Bruins will hire former Montreal and Toronto coach Pat Burns sometime this week, and possibly as early as today, according to broadcast reports.
WFXT-TV and WBZ-TV, both quoting unnamed sources, said Burns met with Bruins officials in recent days and will be named to replace Steve Kasper, fired just days after the Bruins missed the playoffs for the first time in 30 seasons.
