Catholic School Plans Starlite Nite Auction

From Staff And Wire Reports

Holy Family Catholic School will hold its first Starlite Nite Auction at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.

Items up for bid include trips to San Francisco, Southern California and the Oregon Coast. A car from Ponderosa Motors and sports memorabilia from athletes such as John Stockton and Mark Rypien have been donated.

There is also an photograph of John and Jackie Kennedy taken the night before the president’s assassination and framed with a card from his funeral, said Gary Paquin, one of the event’s organizers.

Admission is free. Proceeds will go to the school, which opened last fall in Coeur d’Alene. It is enrolling students in kindergarten through fourth grade for next year.

Tuition is based on cost per student, but families unable to pay full cost are still invited to enroll, said Mary Stewart, a member of the school’s board.

Money from fund-raising events and private foundations helps cover the costs.
