Redford Begins Filming On Monday

From Staff And Wire Reports

“The Horse Whisperer,” a film starring and directed by Robert Redford, will begin filming in the Big Timber area on Monday.

Shooting will continue in a variety of places in Park and Gallatin counties through August, a representative of Double Divide production company in Livingston said Wednesday.

In addition to Redford, the movie will star Sam Neill, Kristin Scott Thomas and Dianne Wiest. Redford is co-producing the movie with Patrick Markey.

Redford will play the lead, a “horse whisperer” who is able to calm disturbed horses. The movie is based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Evans.

Two other movies will begin filming in Montana in June, one in Livingston and one in Glacier National Park.

The made-for-television movie, “Everything That Rises,” starring Dennis Quaid, will start filming June 12 and continues through July, Stimac said. Quaid has a home in Park County.

Filming will begin in mid-June on a dramatic comedy, “What Dreams May Come” starring Robin Williams. Part of the movie will be shot in Glacier National Park and the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in western Montana. Shooting is scheduled to run through mid-July.
