Parade And Carnival Highlights Of West Valley Family Days

Food, folly and fun await friends and neighbors at next Saturday’s West Valley Family Days celebration.

A parade through Millwood kicks off the third annual Family Days celebration at 11 a.m. A carnival at Millwood Park caps the day’s events.

Classic cars, fire engines, sheriff’s patrol cars, and Sheriff John Goldman are expected to join the 30-minute procession that will snake along the town’s streets and end up at Millwood Park.

The parade route starts at the corner of Fairview Court and Boeing Road and travels west along Grace Avenue. It then turns south on Willow Road, west on Buckeye Avenue and north onto Stout Road.

It makes a final turn east onto Frederick Avenue, and winds up three blocks later.

The carnival featuring a bicycle rodeo, miniature train rides, and a drawing for boys’ and girls’ bikes will follow the parade.

Crash Test Dummies Vince and Larry, crime fighters McGruff the Crime Dog and Scruffy, and Doc the Clown will join the festivities.

Door prizes, hot dogs, pop and chips will be available for a small charge at the carnival which closes at 4 p.m.

Family Days, sponsored by SCOPE West Valley, has quickly become a popular neighborhood celebration, drawing about 800 people its first year and more than 1,000 last year.
