Gun-Wielding Man Takes Beer From Store

A man stole a half case of beer at gunpoint from a Qwik Stop convenience store at 2202 N. Monroe on Sunday morning, according to the Spokane Police Department.

The robber grabbed the beer, then pulled out a hand gun. He waved the gun in the air, laughed and walked out the door, the store’s clerk told police.

The suspect headed east on Mansfield, said Dick Cottam, Spokane Police Department spokesman.

The robber was described as a Hispanic male, about 18 years old, with black, crew-cut hair. He had acne scars on both sides of his mouth and was about 5-feet-9-inches tall. He wore a black-and-white flannel shirt or jacket, Cottam said.

Just after the 12:30 a.m. robbery, police received a report of a reckless driver at Washington and Buckeye. The car was a burgundy two-door Ford Escort. The description of one of the passengers matched that of the armed robber.
