Metal Pollution In Cda River Topic
Heavy metal pollution in the Coeur d’Alene River basin is the subject of a panel discussion from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Eastern Washington University.
Panelists include representatives from the U.S. Geological Survey, Coeur d’Alene Tribe, Inland Empire Public Lands Council, the Northwest Mining Association and the Peoples Action Coalition of Kellogg.
Students and the general public are invited to learn about how mining waste from Idaho has affected wildlife, natural resources and public health from the Silver Valley to Spokane. The latest science and recommended methods for cleanup will be discussed.
The Biological Student Organization and the Biology and Society class of EWU are sponsoring the event. The panel will meet in the first floor Louise Anderson Lounge at EWU.
