More Fast Food Restaurants Opening On North Side

As commercial and residential development grows on the North Side, so do the fast food outlets.

New outlets for Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers and Jack In The Box are opening soon.

Jack In The Box is under construction by Wayneco near the new La-Z-Boy Gallery at Division Street and Hawthorne Road. It is scheduled to open in January.

Wendy’s also plans to open early next year at the Division Street Y, near the planned Home Depot site.

Jack In the Box will have about 45 employees, Wendy’s will hire 35 workers.

Sherma Lewis, a spokesman for Jack In The Box, said the company has four outlets in Spokane and plans to open three more next year.

Several factors figured into selecting the North Side site, she said.

“We like to be near a college, like Whitworth,” said Lewis.

The new Fred Meyer, proposed Wal-Mart, busy Highway 395, a growing residential area and Canadian tourists all figured into the equation, Lewis said.

The new Wendy’s will replace one that closed last year at 6730 N. Division. There are five Wendy’s outlets in Spokane, all operated by Bar NZ, Inc.
