Suspect In Weekend Shootings Surrenders To Spokane Police

From Staff And Wire Reports

An 18-year-old man suspected of killing one man and wounding another in a weekend shooting surrendered to Spokane police early Sunday morning.

Justin D. Rogers was accompanied by his mother and an attorney when he turned himself in. He was booked into jail on first-degree murder, said Dick Cottam, police spokesman.

Police say Rogers shot two men on Saturday after the men confronted him near the corner of Monroe and York.

One man died at the doors of Buyer’s Market Furniture on Monroe. The other ran, then collapsed just east of the intersection on York. He is 21 years old and is in satisfactory condition at an area hospital, Cottam said.

Police did not release the name of either of the victims on Sunday. Detectives still are investigating what, if any, connection Rogers had to the two victims, Cottam said.

Rogers’ address is listed as 734 W. Jackson. , DataTimes
