Asher Settles On Portland

Lake City High School basketball player Alison Asher has verbally committed herself to attend the University of Portland.

The 6-foot-4 post player said she will sign a letter of intent during the early signing period next month.

Asher picked Portland over three California schools, Saint Mary’s, Pepperdine and the University of the Pacific.

Portland has played in the NCAA Division I Tournament four straight years. The Pilots won the West Coast Conference for a second consecutive time last season.

Asher averaged 10.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.1 blocks for Lake City’s State A-1 runner-up Timberwolves last winter.
