NEW FACES:

Acme Materials & Construction Co. has hired Jeff Quinnett as a sales representative for its ready-mix/sand and gravel operation. Quinnett, a business graduate of Eastern Washington University, has 11 years of sales experience.

Ron Sayler has joined Tomlinson Blacks’ NorthTown office as a residential sales specialist. Sayler has nearly 14 years of real estate experience and was formerly with Coldwell Banker Corrado Realty.

Paul Anderson, area manager for the Washington Water Power Co., has joined the Kootenai Hospital District Board of Trustees. Anderson replaces Tim Olson, who resigned after serving 10 years on the board because of a job transfer. Anderson served six years on the KMC Foundation board and is a member of Idaho Gov. Phil Batt’s Economic Advisory Council to the Department of Commerce.

The following physicians have been accepted for membership in the Spokane County Medical Society:

Dr. Jeff Johnson has joined the Rockwood Clinic in the practice of internal medicine. He graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston and completed an internship and residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.

Dr. William Roth has joined Diakonia Family Health in the practice of family medicine. He graduated from Loma Linda University, completed an internship at Deaconess Medical Center and a residency at Riverside General Hospital.

Dr. James Dunlap, who completed an internship and residency at Tulane University and a fellowship at Baylor University, has joined Associated Orthopedic Specialists in the practice of orthopedic surgery. He is a graduate of Tulane University.

Dr. Christopher Sturbaum has joined the active medical staff of Holy Family Hospital in the practice of ophthalmology. He joins Dr. David Cohen at Eye Consultants in the Holy Family Medical Building. Sturbaum graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completed an internship at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and a residency at the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston.

C. Mark Casey has joined the law firm of Mullin, Cronin & Blair P.S. as an attorney and new principal. Casey’s practice will continue to focus on worker’s compensation and family law. The firm’s name has been changed to Mullin, Cronin, Casey & Blair P.S.

D. Michael Jones has been elected to the board of directors of Pentzer Corp., the investment arm of Washington Water Power Co. Jones is a former president of Old National Bancorporation and West One Bancorp. He is president and chief executive officer of Source Capital Corp.

Douwe Egberts Coffee Systems, a division of Sara Lee Corp., has hired Patrick Axtell as a territory sales manager. Axtell previously worked for Boyd Coffee.

MOVING UP:

Washington Trust Bank has promoted Chad LeGate to trust officer for the Bank’s Trust Department. LeGate, who joined the bank in 1993, will be responsible for all aspects of administering personal trusts.

Ambassador Programs Inc. has promoted the following employees:

Ralph Baard, director of the company’s Air Department since 1996, was named vice president of air and student travel services. He will, in addition to managing the Air Department, oversee operations in the Student Travel and Visa Services Departments. Before joining Ambassador Programs, Baard managed air services for Princess Cruises in Los Angeles.

Nicole McGrath has been promoted to associate director for adult programs. McGrath was previously a program coordinator for API and interned in the broadcasting industry in the Midwest.

Elizabeth Byrd, who was previously a program coordinator, was promoted to associate director for adult programs. Before joining API, she was a manager with Sta-Fit Inc. in Spokane.

Anne Easterly and Nelson Gourley have been named financial relationship managers for Bank of America’s North Idaho region. The bank’s new Financial Relationship Management Program pairs customers with diverse banking and investment needs with bank officials who understand the customer’s objectives and can offer strategies and products to meet their needs.

TRANSACTIONS:

S.L. Start & Associates Inc. has been awarded a five-year contract with the Department of Education to provide a Project With Industry program in Spokane and five counties in North Idaho. S.L. Start’s proposal was one of 88 to receive funding in a national competition. The program, called Inland Northwest Partnerships for Employment and Training, will expand career and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

ELECTED:

Bette Largent, owner of Carrousel Consultants of Spokane, has been elected to the board of directors of the National Carousel Association. Largent is the preservationist for the Looff Carrousel at Riverfront Park.

The Spokane Unit of the American Cancer Society has elected the following officers for 1997-98: President, Steve McIntosh, Kiemle & Hagood Co.; vice-president, Dr. Tom Allerding, Pathology Associates Inc. P.S; treasurer and board member, Ruth Reynolds, Telephone Pioneers; secretary, Vicky Dalton, Spokane County. Board members include Kathy Chase, Montessori School; Peggy Currie, Deaconess and Valley Hospitals and Medical Centers; Dr. Ryan Holbrook, Surgical Oncology; Anne McKeon, Holy Family Hospital; and Kathryn McKinley, Layman and Layman.

Spokane Transportation Club officers for 1997-1998 include:

KUDOS:

PBI Construction Inc. was ranked No. 313 on the Inc. 500 listing of fastest-growing companies in America. The Spokane-based commercial general contractor, formerly called Precision Bilt Inc., enjoyed an 886 percent sales increase this year in public, private and federal markets. Among the company’s current projects are an addition to the city of Spokane prosecutor and defenders offices, a post office for Hawley Property and Development and capital improvements at Spokane Falls Community College.
