Workshop Will Help People Get Out Of Debt

Managing money is a constant struggle for some people. Burdened with debt, they find that their income just isn’t enough to make ends meet. First Presbyterian Church is offering a workshop designed to help people dig their way out of debt and stay there.

“Debt Free and Prosperous Living: A Biblical Perspective” will be offered on Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The seminar will examine the Biblical perspective on credit and debt and will provide step by step instructions on how to get out of debt. Each participant will leave the seminar with a personalized debt elimination plan and a long-term plan for financial independence.

The cost of the workshop is $18 per person or $25 for couples. Advance registration is required. To register or for more information, call the church at 747-1058, ext. 110.

Papal music on Sunday

The choir of The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes will present an encore performance of its May concert in Rome when the choir sang for the Pope. “A Concert for Rome: A Reprise” will be performed at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Cathedral, located at 1115 W. Riverside.

The concert will include selections from Advent and Christmas to Pentecost and beyond. The a cappela program features music mostly by American composers, with an emphasis on spirituals.

Donations will be accepted.

Two parties for goblins

The Spokane Unitarian Universalist Church, 4340 W. Fort George Wright Drive, will host its annual Halloween carnival Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The event will feature a haunted house, a fish pond, cookie decorating, a bean bag toss and removable tattoos.

All proceeds will benefit UNICEF, a worldwide fund that assists needy children.

Children of all ages are invited to dress up as their favorite ghoul, goblin, or ghost and attend a Halloween party at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The event will feature a haunted hallway, games and refreshments. Admission is two cans of food, which will be donated to the Spokane Food Bank.

Cheney fair on Saturday

The Cheney United Methodist Church, 204 Fourth Street, will hold its holiday fair Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A hand-crafted afghan will be raffled off. Tickets are three for $1.

The fair will also feature a variety of hand-crafted items, knitted mittens and sweaters, tree ornaments, a bake sale and refreshments.
