Manufactured Home Limits May Be Eased

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Spokane City Council tonight will consider relaxing restrictions on where manufactured homes can be built.

Last year, the council opened up all neighborhoods except historic districts to the prefabricated housing. Since then, the manufactured housing industry has complained the restrictions are too tight.

Changes being considered by the council would allow more than two prefab homes to be placed on the same side of the street in one block. The proposal also gets rid of the condition that two manufactured houses can’t be built side by side.

The council first considered the ordinance in August but delayed a decision so that neighborhood councils could review the proposal.

The topic went to the councils and the Plan Commission before coming back to the City Council tonight.

A briefing for the council starts at 3:30 p.m. in the lower-level conference room of City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. , DataTimes
