Three Seriously Hurt In One-Car Accident

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two men from Chattaroy and one from Spokane were seriously injured in a car accident southwest of Newport on Saturday night, the Washington State Patrol said.

Ryan Anderson, 22, of Chattaroy, received severe head and chest injuries from the accident. He was taken by ambulance to the Newport hospital and then air-lifted by a MedStar Air Ambulance to Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane. He was in serious condition on Sunday night.

Justin Ovnicek, 24, of Chattaroy, suffered back injuries and was taken to the Newport hospital along with Aaron Ross, 21, of Spokane. Ross had a fractured facial bone and broken arm.

Anderson was driving a blue 1983 Subaru south on Camden Road when the car went onto the right shoulder. Anderson overcorrected and the Subaru crossed both lanes of traffic. The car went over an embankment, struck a tree, then rolled into a creek sometime around 8:45 p.m. The car was totaled.

Neither Anderson nor Ovnicek were wearing seat belts. Both were thrown from the car. It’s unknown if Ross was wearing a seat belt.

A third passenger in the car, Daniel Ross, 22, of Spokane was wearing a seat belt. He walked away with minor abrasions. , DataTimes
