Shooting, Standoff Incident Ends Quietly

From Staff Reports

A North Spokane man who shot up the inside of his house was arrested without incident Wednesday after a nine-hour standoff with police.

Carl B. Sikes, 42, was booked into the county jail on suspicion of reckless endangerment.

Police were called to the 1100 block of East Columbia just before midnight by neighbors who reported shooting coming from inside Sikes’ house.

The first officers on the scene heard about a dozen more shots, and they called for the SWAT team.

Dozens of officers surrounded the house, which is near Garry Middle School, and tried to persuade Sikes to come out.

About 8:30 a.m., he left the house and was arrested. No one was hurt. Police later searched the home and found a rifle and ammunition. , DataTimes
