New Pastor Arrives In Town Before His Church Does

Pastor Eric Peterson arrived in Spokane before his church did. Peterson is the pastor for the new, as yet unnamed, Presbyterian church that is being formed in Colbert. From his temporary quarters in the Whitworth Presbyterian Church, Peterson is helping with the final preparations for the church, which will be launched Nov. 16.

It’s a party

Members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1620 N. Monroe, invite the community to attend a 110th birthday party ice cream social Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The celebration will be in the parking lot behind the church. There will be musical entertainment and free ice cream.

Fall schedules announced

Whitworth Presbyterian Church, 312 W. Hawthorne Road, is getting its fall schedule up and running this week. Beginning Sunday, four worship services will once again be offered. Traditional services will be at 8:30 and 10 a.m. and contemporary services are scheduled for 8:45 and 11:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, there will be a Sunday school open house from 10 to 11 a.m. There will be classes for children age four through the sixth grade. For more information, call the church office at 466-0305.

North Hill Christian Church, 4620 N. Post, is also resuming its fall schedule this Sept. 7 . An informal, contemporary service will be at 8:30 a.m. and a traditional service is scheduled for 11 a.m.

The church is also hosting a Rally Day for its Sunday school on Sept. 7. An open house will be at 9:30 a.m. and parents will have an opportunity to meet the teachers. There will be classes for all ages, including adults.

The morning’s events will be wrapped up with a potluck barbecue at 12:15 p.m. For more information, call the church at 326-5400.

New Sundy school program

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3909 W. Rowan, will celebrate the beginning of their Sunday school program Sunday at 9:45 a.m. People of all ages are invited to come and see what is planned for the following months.

Prince of Peace is also resuming its regular worship schedule beginning Sunday. Worship services will be at 8:15 and 11 a.m. A congregational potluck will follow at 1 p.m. in Pacific Park on Indian Trail Road.
