Juried Art Competition Scheduled For October

The Spokane Watercolor Society has scheduled its second annual juried water media competition for Oct. 4. Artists must be at least 18 years old and live within 200 miles of Spokane.

More than $1,200 in cash and prizes will be awarded.

All art has to be original water media and must be hand delivered to the Douglas Gallery, 120 N. Wall, between 9 and 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Works that are accepted into the show will be on display in the gallery through Oct. 31. The juror for the show will be Northwest artist Carla O’Connor.

Auditions

The Lake City Playhouse in Coeur d’Alene is searching for actors for the production “Wait Until Dark.” Auditions will be held at the playhouse, 1320 E. Garden Avenue, today and Monday at 7 p.m.

Production dates will be Oct. 24-26, 31 and Nov. 1-2, 6-8. For more information, call (208) 667-1323.

The Eastern Washington University Girls’ Chorus will be holding auditions for its third season. The chorus is open to all girls ages 8-16. To make an appointment for an audition, call 359-2330. No prepared solos are necessary.

Wildlife photographer at gallery

Northwest wildlife photographer Michael Bowman will be the featured artist at Traditions On Trent Friday-Sept. 19.

Bowman, a former award-winning PRCA rodeo photographer, will be at the gallery from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday to sign posters. Champagne and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Posters and limited-edition prints will be available for purchase starting at $30. The gallery will be donating 10 percent of all art sales during the week to the Spokane Food Bank.

The gallery is located at 11829 E. Trent.

Moses Lake consignment art

The Adam East Museum and Art Center in Moses Lake is searching for fine art and crafts for consignment in its 1997 Holiday Show. The center is primarily looking for functional and decorative pottery, sculpture, woodwork, glass, jewelry and metalwork.

Artists must submit three to five photographs or slides of current works, a brief written description of the work submitted (including price range), and a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of materials. Submissions must be postmarked on or before Oct. 1. The center - a non-profit organization featuring an art gallery, historical museum, and educational programs - will receive 30 percent of each sale.
