First Presbyterian Offers Marriage Class

The rooms of First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar, once again are buzzing with activity as fall classes get under way.

Couples who are considering marriage or have been married a year or two are invited to attend “New Beginnings: A Class for Engaged and Newly Married Couples.”

The five-week workshop begins Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. Topics include communication, finances, spiritual and sexual intimacy, extended family relationships, and conflict resolution.

A bereavement support group will begin meeting at First Presbyterian on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. The group will meet through Nov. 10.

All are invited to share their feelings with others and receive support during the grieving process.

Missionary will speak Manito United

Methodist Church, 3220 S. Grand Blvd., has several special activities planned this weekend.

Wilson Boots, a missionary from Bolivia, will speak at the church at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Boots will talk about “Encounter with Christ in Latin America and the Caribbean,” a program that deals with problems in Latin America such as health care, unemployment, and sanitation issues.

A potluck will precede the free presentation at 6 p.m.

Sunday marks Manito’s return to its normal schedule.

Worship services will be held each week at 8:45 and 11 a.m. Sunday also marks the beginning of Sunday school, held at 9:45 a.m. each week.

Barbecue planned after service

Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cheney is beginning Sunday school classes this week. Classes will begin at 9:15 a.m.

The worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by a barbecue.

Parents’ meeting scheduled

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5720 S. Perry, will begin Sunday school classes this week.

Children can register Sunday at 9 a.m. A meeting for parents will be held at the same time. For more information, call 448-2255.
