Valley Couple Robbed At Home

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two men broke into a Spokane Valley home and robbed a couple at gunpoint late Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies said.

The incident occurred about 11:45 p.m. in the 300 block of North Barker.

The couple told detectives some visiting friends had just left for the night when a pickup pulled into the driveway.

The husband went to the front door, where he was confronted by a man holding a black semiautomatic pistol, deputies said.

The victim told investigators the gunman pointed the pistol at him, grabbed him by the hair, forced him into the family room and pushed him face down onto the floor.

The intruder then woke up the man’s wife, who was sleeping on a couch, pointed the gun at her face and told her not to look at him, deputies said.

The couple told investigators the gunman then demanded “the money,” drugs and a 9mm pistol he suspected was in the house.

The couple had no drugs or gun, so the thieves fled with the husband’s wallet.

The victims said their attackers were both white.

The gunman was in his 30s, about 6 feet tall, with curly hair and a slight accent. He was unshaven and wearing cowboy boots.

The other intruder was about 5 feet 9 inches tall, 175 pounds. He had a raspy voice, camouflage clothing and a baseball cap.

The bandits drove away in a beige or white 1980s-model four-wheel-drive Ford pickup with a loud exhaust.
