2 People Eluding Police Hit Car, Injuring The Driver

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two people attempting to elude police Friday ended up hitting a car and injuring a motorist, police said.

Spokane police tried to stop two people in a white Toyota Celica after the driver committed a traffic infraction near Crestline and Rowan at about 3:45 p.m. The driver sped away at estimated speeds of 60 to 70 mph.

The car ran a stop sign at Lacrosse and Nevada and struck another vehicle. The driver of that car suffered only minor injuries, but his Saturn was badly damaged.

The two in the Toyota then ran in opposite directions, police said. The driver, who was identified as David K. McDaniel, 30, of Spokane, was caught by a police dog in the area. The car had been stolen, police said.

McDaniel was booked into jail for felony hit-and-run, attempting to elude police and possession of stolen property.

Police are still searching for the female passenger.
