Ceremony To Hail Finish Of Centennial Trail

The Idaho Transportation Department will dedicate the Centennial Trail through North Idaho in a ceremony Thursday afternoon at the Huetter rest area.

Officials from the department, Kootenai County, Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls will celebrate the recent completion of the 23-mile Idaho portion of the trail beginning at 1 p.m. at the Huetter visitors information center on eastbound Interstate 90.

The department encourages the public to attend by walking, bicycling or skating along the trail to the rest area.

The trail meanders from Higgens Point, east of Coeur d’Alene, to Stateline and then runs through Washington to Riverside State Park.

The trail project in Idaho started in 1987, and the first five miles were dedicated in October 1990. , DataTimes
