Sides Portray Different Scenario Prosecution Says Albert Angry Accuser Didn’t Bring A Friend

Bloomberg News

Marv Albert bit a woman and forced her to perform oral sex because she didn’t find someone for three-way sex, said a prosecutor in opening statements Monday of the broadcaster’s trial on sexual assault charges.

“He wanted a scenario for that night and the dignity of a human being didn’t matter,” said Richard Trodden, Arlington Commonwealth Attorney. “She was his prop.”

Albert faces forcible sodomy and assault charges stemming from an alleged incident with a 42-year-old Vienna, Va., woman. If convicted, Albert could serve life in prison.

Trodden said Albert and his accuser had a sexual relationship for 10 years that included Albert dressing in women’s underwear and three-way sex. Albert and his accuser had three-way sex once with a woman in Los Angeles and another time with a man in Miami, he said.

One of Albert’s defense attorneys, Roy Black, said in his opening statement that although “the sex was not something you or I would do or agree with, it was consensual, just like the past 10-1/2 years of the relationship.”

Black said the woman is seeking revenge because Albert wanted to end their relationship so he could marry his fiancee, Heather Faulkner.

Trodden said the meeting between the accuser and Albert on Feb. 12 at an Arlington hotel room was different than the other encounters the couple had. Albert, who was scheduled to work a New York KnicksWashington Bullets game, called his accuser at least four times, asking whether she could find anyone for a threesome, Trodden said.

She arrived at Albert’s hotel room alone, angering him, Trodden said.

“Albert told her ‘You’ve been a bad girl. You didn’t bring anybody. …,”’ then began to bite her back and she asked him to stop, he said.
