Valley Fourth Marks 25th Year Of Service

Nina Culver Correspondent

Valley Fourth Memorial Church, 2303 S. Bowdish Road, is celebrating 25 years of serving the Lord with a series of events this weekend.

Over the course of the weekend, themed “God is So Wonderful,” the congregation will take a look back, examine where they are now, and look to the future.

Valley Fourth Memorial held its first service on Sept. 24, 1972. The building, which previously housed the Church of Christ, had been abandoned and damaged by vandals. The church flourished and formed the Valley Christian School in 1975. The school now has more than 400 students and 35 faculty members.

The church will begin its celebration with a lasagna dinner for adults today at 6 p.m. Pastor Ed Underhill of Fourth Memorial Church will speak.

Rich Stafford, the previous music pastor, and Dwight Hires, the former minister of Christian education, will be in attendance.

Tickets for the dinner are $7.50 each and will be available at the door.

Pastor Tom Starr, who helped form Valley Fourth, will speak at the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday.

Starr was pastor of Valley Fourth from 1978 to 1994, when he left to form the Maranatha Church in Post Falls.

The weekend will conclude with a worship service at 6 p.m. on Sunday featuring Pastor John Underhill of Valley Fourth. The children’s choirs from the church and Valley Christian school will perform.
