Colville Has No. 5 Seed

Kristin Cornwell scored 13 points in the second half, including nine in the fourth quarter, as Colville (9-12) defeated Deer Park 59-51 in a tiebreaker Monday to earn the fifth seed to the District 7-2A girls basketball tournament.

Cornwell hit 9 of 17 from the floor, with one 3-pointer. Lindsey Braff had seven rebounds and four steals.

Colville opens district at 7:15 p.m. Friday at Mt. Spokane High against No. 4 Chewelah (13-7) in a loser-out.

Jennifer O’Brien had 17 rebounds and 12 second-half points for the Stags (9-12), who play Pullman (8-12) at Medical Lake tonight for the sixth and final district berth. DP will play without No. 3 scorer Amanda Oswalt (8.2 ppg), who hurt her knee in the third quarter and is lost for the year.
