Onrushing Valley Christian Prevails In Bi-County Biggie

Valley Christian passed another test Saturday in its seasonlong quest for its first State B tournament appearance.

The Panthers (9-1, 4-0) strung together a 12-0 run in the second half to defeat Almira/Coulee-Hartline 51-44 in a Bi-County League meeting of division rivals at Hartline.

Jeremy Decker had three 3-pointers and Brian Sears nine rebounds for VC, which has won seven straight. Brandon Leander had 12 rebounds for ACH, a three-time state placer and the 1991 champion.

The score remained unchanged at 47-46 for the game’s final two minutes. Odessa’s Scott Kramer added six assists.

Karl Scheuerman added 11 rebounds for SJE, which missed 17 of 24 attempts from the line. W-C, which entered with a five-game winning streak, closed within two on Bryan Marchand’s 3-pointer but couldn’t hit a final attempt.

Selkirk shot 54 percent from the floor and 71 percent, 15 of 21, from the line. The Rangers were 21 of 24 from the line Friday in defeating St. George’s to break a first-place deadlock in the South Division.
